I graduated from Adams State University in 2016 and became a licensed professional counselor in Virginia in 2020. I have worked in outpatient clinics and residential facilities, including community mental health settings and a therapeutic day school. I have extensive experience working with individuals who have struggled with addiction, both as a group therapist and working with individuals.
I worked in a group practice for the last few years, and am excited to start the journey of private practice with my wife.
Aside from all of this, you’ll usually find me at a local rock show or playing with my metal band. I’m a drummer who also picked up guitar during the pandemic.
Alex Werntz Czywczynski, PhD
Hi, I’m Alex, a licensed clinical psychologist. I’m a triple Hoo, graduating from UVA with my Bachelor’s, Master’s, and finally PhD in clinical psychology in 2020. I’m one of those UVA students who could never leave Cville!
I specialize in working with adults and teens with anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I also really enjoy working with clients who struggle with big emotions. I take a cognitive-behavioral approach, meaning I work collaboratively with my clients to identify how what we’re thinking and what we’re doing affects how we feel. In a lot of ways, my job is to be my clients’ cheerleader as they accomplish their therapy goals. I’m upbeat and positive in sessions, and will push you to be the person that you want to be.
I’m a part-time clinician, seeing therapy clients in the evenings. During the day, I work remotely for the University of Massachusetts Boston doing research on mentoring. I also am the director of research for a tech start-up. I’m passionate about all of the work that I do.

I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem, VA. I have a deep respect for veterans and greatly valued working at a VA. During graduate school, I spent most of my training focusing on understanding how folks with anxiety think about treatment, in addition to working on a free web-based anxiety program.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with our three Sphynx cats, listening to audiobooks, watching bad reality TV, and visiting local vineyards. You can also catch me cheering on Jimmy and his band on at local metal shows.

Brittany Sullivan, LPC

Prior to becoming a licensed professional counselor, I spent ten years teaching English at both the middle and high school level. It was through my experience in the classroom and my connection to the military community that I was drawn to the mental health field. Following my relocation to Virginia in 2018, I pursued and earned a Master’s of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I spent my internship and residency working in a variety of settings, to include community mental health, a residential treatment program, and a group practice.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time collecting shells and shark teeth at the beach, reading romance novels, hiking, doing pilates and traveling with my family.
Jacob Biggs, LCSW
Hi, I’m Jacob, a licensed clinical social worker!
For over ten years, I have worked successfully with adolescents and their families to tackle unique challenges. I strive to help people improve their lives by building personal awareness and instilling healthy habits into their relationships. With a focus on mutual problem-solving, I support those facing difficulties associated with anxiety, depression, family conflict, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

I emphasize the importance of connection with my clients, offering a relationship-focused and goal-oriented approach to therapy. I foster a comfortable environment that allows people to be authentic and express their concerns freely. Let's work together to divide your goals into manageable steps toward progress.

Inviting a therapist into your life can be a challenging decision. It means trusting someone new with your most personal difficulties. My goal is to help others find their strengths, and I would be honored to support positive change in your life.
